Euro Trip June 2012: Part 1 – Germany

Had an eleven day bash in early June taking in Germany, Poland (for a few hours), Czech Rep, Austria and Slovenia

Full captions and the rest of the photos will follow as and when I get time – hopefully before my next trip in a weeks time!

Germany

Friday – Flew early from Gatwick to Dusseldorf on Easyjet before the Skytrain contraption got me to the station to start the bash proper with a 146 into the Hbf then a few hours spinning the S-Bahn 143s. The aim of the day was to do the 103 turn up to Hamburg, however this produced 110457 vice but as it was a bit of an old banger a thrash was had to Hamburg regardless, for the IC overnight through to Frankfurt

Saturday – Spun around Frankfurt before heading across mid-afternoon to Koblenz for the night, managed to fall upon a number of marathon/bike/roller-skating relief trains which was nice of DB to provide!

Sunday – DB Museum Koblenz “electric celebration” event with a pair of E69s working shuttle trains and a cracking display of familiar and unfamiliar beasties on display. We then headed up to the Cologne area for a few hours then it was the familiar move of the IC overnight back north.

Monday – Silly o clock arrival at Hamburg then almost straight away across to Berlin and then Szczecin to cover the penultimate day of 232s onEC178/EC179 which produced 232568. We took the return run through to Usti Nad Labem in the Czech Republic as we would be spending the next few days there…
