Euro Trip June 2012: Part 2 – Czech Republic

Had an eleven day bash in early June taking in Germany, Poland (for a few hours), Czech Rep, Austria and Slovenia

Between the German event and getting to Slovenia we chose to have a few days in the Czech Republic, a favourite country of myn and see what we could pick up.

Tuesday – having arrived on EC179 Monday night, we headed to Prague for the day where we sampled various classes of electric including a fair few ‘gorillas’ before heading down to Brno for the night.

Weds – Spent all day around Brno, picking up 742044 on a DMU vice turn first thing and then covered the local 242 turns before taking a run out to Breclav and back to cover the PM peak 210 diagrams and finishing on a 754 move.

Thurs – Headed to Ceske Bud via Jihlava and then as the afternoon Novi Udoli was silent 749253 opted for the evening Summerau which gets a Cargo 340 over the border to Austria.

Fri – Stayed around Ceske Bud hoping that one of the Sumava turns or the Fridays Only Prague would drop “loud” – they didn’t! Picked up a few more 242s popping and banging around then took the electric route via Tabor (and another 210 ride!) to Prague where we’d pick up the overnight to Vienna – but not before a few beers in the outrageous Vytopna Railway restaurant!
